Health and Safety
A Health and Safety Policy is required and the workplace will be asked to provide evidence of the following:
- Current Employment Liability and Public Liability Insurance.
- Employment arrangements to manage Health and Safety. Records of management will be checked by Paignton Sec Info Tech Training Centre Ltd.
- The working environment and equipment conform to the necessary Health and Safety standards and current EU Health and Safety directives. Prior to the apprenticeship training starting it may be necessary for the college to conduct a Health and Safety check.
- Trainees in both on and off the job will be supervised at all times. In house trainees will be supervised by training staff whilst on the job, Trainees will be monitored by a named supervisor, to ensure that all people are taught to work in a safe and healthy manner and avoid mistakes.
- The trainees are aware of location, plant and machinery that are prohibited and that all prohibited areas and/or equipment will be recorded by Paignton Sec Info Tech Training Centre Ltd.
- The trainees will be issued with the necessary safety literature and complete their own survey for Health and Safety inspection as part of their NVQ at the start of their training period.
- Where necessary, trainees will be provided with protective clothing and equipment.
- Where necessary, the company has notified the appropriate authority under current Health and Safety legislation.
Death, injury, occupational disease and accidents resulting in the injury of the trainee will be investigated as will any non-accidental occurrences resulting in the injury of the trainee. Reports will be made to the Health and Safety Executive and to the Learning and Skills Council as required (RIDDOR).
